Creating or Revising Geo-Env Standard Drawings and Details
Overview
Drawing
The purpose of ODOT’s standard drawings and details is to provide information as a convenience to those who access them.  These drawings and details are also intended to communicate ODOT’s minimum design standards to assist the Design Engineer.

The Geo-Environmental standard drawings and details are a work product of the discipline-specific drawing owners in the Geo-Environmental Section. The drawing owners lead the development of new drawings & details and keep the existing ones current.  These drawings are provided to enhance and streamline the CAD and design process but are not intended to substitute for professional standard of care.

What are Standard Drawings?
Standard drawings are stamped by an ODOT Engineer of Record, and are backed by engineering analysis, calculations, and/or other justification to support them.  Standard drawings are available for use in project design but cannot be modified by designers on a project-by-project basis.  It is the responsibility of the project professional of record that standard drawings are used as originally intended.  Standard drawings are compliant with ODOT’s specifications.

What are Standard Details?
Standard details are drawings that provide useful information about a given type of construction.  Since details are not supported by engineering calculations, they are un-stamped.  Details are available for project use and can be modified as-needed by the project professional of record.
