Research Project: MOLECULAR GENETIC STUDIES ON RESISTANCE TO VERTICILLIUM WILT

Location: Genetic Improvement of Fruits and Vegetables

Project Number: 1275-21000-176-02
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 30, 2004
End Date: Mar 31, 2008

Objective:
Sequence the STVEL locus and develop SNPS to identify haplotypes for resistant and susceptible loci.

Approach:
Sequence the STVEL locus and adjacent genomic area from tetraploid and diploid potatoes. Clone all PCR products prior to sequencing. Use polybayes software to identify SNPS. Calculate a haplotype - resistance association using phenotypic data.
