3.  Summary of Division Funding to Hispanic Serving Institutions and Hispanic Serving Health Professions Schools

From FY 2001 to FY 2002, CDC increased its funding to Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Hispanic Serving Health Professions Schools (HSHPS) from $2,380,320 to $13, 405,229 and from $867,848 to $2, 317,669, respectively.  CDC’s goal for supporting HSIs and HSHPS is three percent of the total support for Institutions of Higher Education (IHE).  In FY 2002, CDC’s funding to the HSIs and the HSHPS amounted to six percent  and one percent respectively.  CDC is pleased with the progress in supporting the HSIs and will strive to meet its goal next year with the HSHPS as well.
