ADA: Americans with Disabilities Act
START's widely used ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or paratransit bus provides mobility to the disabled, allowing them greater participation in our community and a healthier lifestyle. To arrange for new service, please contact us at 733-4521 from 8-5.
basic eligibility requirements
The ADA system is reserved for those for which it is IMPOSSIBLE to use the fixed route START bus system without assistance, due to a physical or mental disability, in order to reach destinations that would be covered by our bus system.
Disability alone does not determine paratransit eligibility; the decision is based on the applicant's functional ability to use the fixed route bus and is not a medical decision. At the same time, unavailability of fixed route service by itself does not constitute eligibility for a person who could otherwise take the same trip on the bus, were the service available.
