RRM Module: Surgery & Anesthesiology
Overview
The RRM Surgery & Anesthesiology staffing module estimates the requirements for general surgeons and anesthesiologist to provide all general surgery services other than OB/GYN surgery and delivery services. The workload parameter that is the key variable in the staffing estimation is the number of general surgery cases. The minimum workload for Surgery & Anesthesiology is 200 cases. Nursing services for surgery are covered in the Inpatient Nursing modules.
Services Descriptio
The Surgery staff provides:
General Surgical Services
Operating/Recovery Room Primary Care Service
Staffing Criteria
Fixed General Surgeon staff of 1.5 FTEs for each facility with at least 200 general surgery cases, plus 1.0 FTE General Surgeon for every 190 general surgery cases above 200.
Fixed Anesthesiologist staff of 1.5 FTEs for each facility with any general surgery or OB/GYN cases, plus 1.0 FTE Anesthesiologist for every 500 cases (general surgery cases plus deliveries plus OB/GYN surgical cases) above 200.
