NEWS April 9, 1997 JOHN STERN NAMED A SSISTANT BUREAU CHIEF OF THE INTERNATION AL BUREAU The FCC announced today that John P. Stern has been promoted to Assistant Chief of the International Bureau. Stern joined the Commission in January 1995 as a litigator in the Office of General Counsel. In February of 1996, Stern joined the International Bureau to work on satellite issues. Stern has served as Senior Legal Advisor to the Bureau Chief since May 1996. Stern earned a B.A. from Harvard College in 1983 and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1988. He was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in 1984-85. He clerked for the Honorable Morris E. Lasker, in the Southern District of New York, between 1988-90. Stern worked for four years in the Affirmative Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department before joining the FCC. Stern lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Anne Salladin, an attorney at the Treasury Department's Office of General Counsel. -FCC-
