Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, and Michigan State Police to Kickoff Roadcheck 2003

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Administrator-Designate Annette M. Sandberg on Tuesday, June 3, will kickoff Roadcheck 2003, a truck and bus safety inspection effort, with officials from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the Michigan State Police. This three-day event focuses on the year-round commercial vehicle and driver roadside inspection program and draws the public's attention to the combined efforts of law enforcement and the truck and bus industries to save lives on North American highways. Roadcheck 2003 also provides an opportunity to distribute educational and safety materials to commercial drivers, including information on the new hours-of-service regulations and the new requirements for cargo securement, both of which go into effect in January 2004.

Directions: From I-75 South, take exit 47B (Porter Street). Go east to St. Anne Street. Go south approximately four blocks to the Ambassador Bridge. Parking is available at the site.
