FMCSA Public Listening Session on Plans to Improve Monitoring and Assessing the Safety Performance of Commercial Motor Carriers Slated for Washington, DC, on November 16

WASHINGTON, DC — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), looking to improve the way it monitors and assesses the safety performance of the rapidly growing commercial vehicle industry, is developing a new approach that focuses on interacting with more carriers on a regular basis through its Comprehensive Safety Analysis (CSA) 2010 initiative. A public listening session to obtain feedback on the latest progress of the initiative will be held in Washington, DC, on November 16, 2006.

A notice summarizing the safety initiative and announcing the listening session was published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. The listening session will take place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue NW., Washington, DC 20001; register online at http://www.csa2010.com.

Written comments must be submitted by December 18, 2006. Comments can be submitted online at the Department of Transportation's Docket Management System at http://dmses.dot.gov. Reference docket number FMCSA-2004-18898.
