U.S. Department of Transportation Shuts Down Interstate Trucking Operations of a Washington Carrier

San Francisco, California -- The U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued an Order to Cease All Interstate Transportation, effective May 27, 2003, to Nationwide Moving Systems, LLC, USDOT #1072700, located in Woodinville, Washington, after a compliance review of the carrier's operations resulted in an "unsatisfactory" safety rating.

Nationwide Moving Systems, LLC, at the time of the compliance review, operated predominantly in Washington using one truck and three drivers transporting household goods.

The Order was issued based on the carrier's violation of several Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. These violations included:

• Failing to implement an alcohol and/or controlled substances testing program.
• Operating a motor vehicle without having in effect the required minimum level of financial responsibility coverage.
• Failing to maintain driver qualification file on each driver employed.
• Failing to require drivers to make a record of duty status.
• Failing to require drivers to prepare driver vehicle inspection reports.

The Order, effective at 12:01 AM, PDT, May 27, 2003, was served on Nationwide Moving Systems, LLC, in Woodinville, Washington. It was issued after the FMCSA's Washington Division completed a compliance review of the carrier's operations on March 17, 2003. Nationwide Moving Systems, LLC, was notified that its safety rating would be "unsatisfactory" and was given 60 days to bring its operations into compliance. Since Nationwide Moving Systems, LLC, failed to do so, the FMCSA determined it to be unfit to operate in interstate commerce and will prohibit such operations until it can demonstrate that it has corrected its safety problems.
