NMFS OPENS DIRECTED FISHING FOR PACIFIC COD
BY VESSELS CATCHING PACIFIC COD
FOR PROCESSING BY THE INSHORE COMPONENT
IN THE CENTRAL REGULATORY AREA OF THE GULF OF ALASKA


The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels catching Pacific cod for processing by the inshore component in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), September 28, 2004, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2004 B season total allowable catch of Pacific cod specified for vessels catching Pacific cod for processing by the inshore component in the Central Regulatory Area of the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
