INFORMATION BULLETIN 04-44 Sustainable Fisheries Division 907-586-7228 May 23, 2004 3:15 p.m. APPORTIONMENT OF THE RESERVE FOR ROCK SOLE IN THE BERING SEA AND ALEUTIAN ISLANDS The 2004 total allowable catch (TAC) specified for rock sole in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) management area have been supplemented by amounts of the reserve according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. This action is being taken in accordance with 50 CFR 679.20(b)(3). The following table summarizes the apportionment in metric tons: Current Initial TAC (ITAC) This Action Revised ITAC BSAI Rock Sole 34,850 +3,075 37,925 Total BSAI 1,797,735 +3,075 1,800,810 Available Reserve 14,665 -3,075 11,590 Fishermen are reminded that all actions and closures remain in full force and effect. This apportionment does not rescind or modify closures to directed fishing or actions prohibiting retention of a groundfish species. This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change.
