INFORMATION BULLETIN (00-8) January 26, 2000 Sustainable Fisheries Division 7:45 a.m. 907-586-7228 NMFS PROVIDES NOTIFICATION OF A CORRECTION TO THE STELLER SEA LION PROTECTION MEASURES FOR THE POLLOCK FISHERIES OFF ALASKA The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has issued emergency interim regulations effective January 20, 2000, to implement Steller sea lion protection measures for the pollock fisheries off Alaska, according to Steven Pennoyer, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. This emergency rule was recommended by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council. The emergency rule is effective until July 19, 2000. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide notice of a correction to a previous information bulletin which was revised on January 21, 2000 (NMFS information bulletin #2a). In that bulletin, NMFS corrected the site coordinates for Seguam Island in Table 20. However, this correction will not be implemented in the emergency rule document which will be published in the Federal Register later this week. NMFS will subsequently issue a correction to the emergency rule. The correct coordinates for Seguam Island in Table 20 is as follows: from: 52 21.05 N, 172 34.40 W to: 52 21.02 N, 172 33.60 W This bulletin is for informational purposes only.
