NMFS REALLOCATES PACIFIC COD TO VESSELS USING HOOK & LINE OR POT GEAR IN THE BERING SEA AND ALEUTIAN ISLANDS MANAGEMENT AREA The National Marine Fisheries service (NMFS) is reallocating 9,000 metric tons (mt) of Pacific cod from catcher/processor vessels using trawl gear and 3,000 mt of Pacific cod from vessels using jig gear to catcher/processor vessels using hook-and-line or vessels using pot gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.
