Code is ROMS 1.8, enhanced with the Scalable Modeling System (SMS) from the Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL) to enable it to run on their distributed memory Alpha and Intel supercomputers. Dan Schaffer, at FSL, did the SMS coding.

Results

After a 90 day test run of this grid, the initial spin-up of such features as the Kuroshio and various equatorial surface currents can be observed in this plot of surface velocities and Sea Surface Height.
