The wording and order of questions, the survey instrument, and the interaction of interviewers and respondents all are vital to the success of a survey; modifications addressing these factors should greatly reduce the labor force misclassification of individuals in the "new" CPS. This article briefly elaborates on the history of and concepts underlying the CPS questionnaire, as discussed by John E. Bregger and Cathryn S. Dippo on pages 3-9.
