Learn new skills! Gain work experience! Meet new people! Explore your national parks!

Become one of the 140,000 volunteers nationwide who are donating their time and talents to our national parks. Come explore this amazing and unique ecosystem while being an important part of its future. Join the National Park Service Volunteer-In-Parks Program and help Everglades National Park meet its mission of resource protection and visitor services.

Everglades National Park has an active volunteer program. Often there are more than 200 volunteers participating in a variety of positions. The majority of volunteer positions are available from November through April; however, some are open all year. The types of positions vary greatly and may include clerical, skilled and unskilled maintenance, trail trimming, beach clean-up, biology and hydrology data collection, exotic plant removal, visitor contact on walking trails or at visitor centers, and environmental education assistance. Read about volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups.

Volunteers are provided with uniform shirts and hats. On-site training covering work duties and park natural and cultural resources is provided. Volunteers gain work experience and an opportunity to learn about and experience South Florida’s many diverse ecosystems.

Many people have found the Volunteer-In-Parks program very rewarding. You can download an application here. Once you have completed the application, email it to Jackie_Dostourian@nps.gov or mail it to Everglades National Park, Attn: VIP Coordinator, 40001 State Road 9336, Homestead, Florida 33034-6733. If you have questions, please call us at 305-242-7752.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Tropical Hardwood Hammock

Did You Know?
The “high and dry” tree islands of the Everglades are called tropical hardwood hammocks. The park marks a significant edge of the northern limits of many subtropical plants and the southern limits of many temperate plants. This provides quite a unique and beautiful landscape.
