Coming on the heels of finalizing our regulations for a modern system of ratemaking in October 2007, the Commission took a number of further steps last month in fulfilling our responsibilities under the new postal law.
The Commissioners and I are looking forward to public review and feedback on these efforts. We plan to finish the year by publishing rules on Accounting Practices and Tax Rules for Competitive Products, and issuing our report on universal mail service and the postal monopolies in December.
The regulatory environment contemplated by postal reform has progressed to the operational stage. We look forward to fulfilling our statutory responsibilities as this environment evolves and matures.
