Syndromic Surveillance
The following provides information related to State-sponsored BT Syndromic Surveillance
legislation. Materials are listed in alphabetical order by jurisdiction.
- Arizona. Enhanced Surveillance Advisory. A revised statute that
authorizes information sharing during an enhanced surveillance advisory when a local health or health safety
authority learns of a threat of bioterrorism or of a suspicious disease.

- Iowa. HF 396.
A bill that authorizes the development of a surveillance system to monitor supplies of drugs, antidotes and
vaccines to assist in detecting a potential public health disaster. Effective
date of bill April 14, 2003.

- Nevada. NRS Title 40. Chapter 441A.125. A revised statute that authorizes the use of syndromic reporting
and active surveillance to monitor public health during major events.
The revised section became effective July 1 2003.

- Nevada. NRS 450B Sec180. A revised statute that relates to the certification and authority of
emergency medical technicians, and specifies the completion of instruction in
syndromic surveillance and reporting as one of the requirements for certificate
renewal.
