Under Secretary Mancuso Meets With Yale University President Richard Levin

On April 3, Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Mario Mancuso met with the president of Yale University, Richard Levin, to discuss the report of the Deemed Export Advisory Committee. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Guitierrez chartered the Committee to provide recommendations on how to ensure controls on domestic transfers of dual-use technology to foreign nationals best protect U.S. national security without impeding innovative civilian research and development.

Under Secretary Mancuso has discussed the report with a number of other academic leaders, including the presidents of Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University, and the University of Pittsburgh. Under Secretary Mancuso has also met with the deans of the Fletcher School at Tufts University and the Monterey Institute, as well as the National Academies and the Council on Governmental Relations.
