To get the most out of your visit, why not start at one of the park visitor centers? Chat with our knowledgeable staff, pick up maps and publications to help you enjoy your visit, and find out about the programs and special events offered during your stay. There are five visitor centers in Redwood National and State Parks (listed north to south along a 40-mile corridor): Hiouchi Information Center - Jedediah Smith Visitor Center - Crescent City Information Center - Prairie Creek Visitor Center - Kuchel Visitor Center

Jedediah Smith Visitor Center - Open from May 20 to September 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open winters on Friday/Saturday/Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as staff is available.

- Location: US Highway 101 at Hiouchi, CA.
- Closed in the winter.
- Ranger-led walks, junior ranger programs, and evening campfire programs occur during the summer.
- Redwood National and State Parks' Junior Ranger activity newspapers are available here.
- Coast redwood, history, and wildlife exhibits.
- Nature museum, gift shop, campground, dump station, picnic area, and restrooms.

Crescent City Information Center - Open March - October from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open November - February from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- Location: 1111 Second Street, Crescent City, CA.
- Closures: Thanksgiving, December 25th, and New Year's Day.

Prairie Creek Visitor Center - Open daily March - October from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open Wednesday - Sunday November - February from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Location: just off US Highway 101, along Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway.
- Closures: Thanksgiving, December 25th, New Year's Eve, and Easter.
- Ranger-led walks, junior ranger programs, and evening campfire programs held in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park during the summer season.
- Redwood National and State Parks' Junior Ranger activity newspapers are available here.
- Coast redwood forest, wildlife, and history exhibits.
- Video room available.
- Nature museum, gift shop, campground, dump station, picnic area, and restrooms.
- 70 miles of trails begin here.

- Patio talks and coast walks occur during the summer.

- Many exhibits in the visitor center on coast redwoods and watersheds: new technologies! kid friendly!

Did You Know?
You can travel by car to Gold Bluffs Beach to hike along a meandering stream through a hidden canyon with 30-foot walls covered by several species of ferns. Follow steps up to James Irvine Trail to a prairie that was once a small mining town above Fern Canyon.
