General Management Plan (GMP)
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

In 2005, Grand Teton National Park began preparing for the multi-year process of creating a new General Management Plan (GMP) for Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. This effort focuses on the mission of the units and create a vision of future desired conditions regarding resource preservation, opportunities for visitor use, facilities and operations, and coordination with partners. It will provide the framework for park management decisions for the next 15-20 years. The park will not receive funding to officially start the GMP and do public scoping/workshops until FY08 at the earliest.

Did You Know?
Did you know that lodgepole pine trees grow on glacial moraines in Jackson Hole? Glacial moraines are ridges of rocky debris left behind as Ice Age glaciers melted. The soil on these ridges retains moisture and is more hospitable to trees than the cobbly, porous soil on the outwash plain.
