Virginia Lottery 20th Birthday Celebration
September 15 — Governor Kaine spoke at the 20th birthday celebration for the Virginia Lottery and accepted a ceremonial check for this year’s lottery proceeds totaling $455.3 million.
Since 1999, Virginia Lottery profits have gone exclusively to K-12 public education in the Commonwealth. With the $455 million in FY 2008 profits, the total turned over by the Lottery since 1999 for K-12 public schools is $3,896,329,761.
