Biomass Energy and Biofuels from Oregon's Forests
This study examines the implications of using woody biomass from thinning overcrowded forests as a renewable source of energy, which at the same time could help restore forest health, reduce the vulnerability of forests to fire and revitalize rural economies. Oregon Forest Resources Institute
The Oregon Legislature created the Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI) in 1991 to improve public understanding of the state’s forest resources and to encourage environmentally sound forest management through training and other educational programs for forest landowners. OFRI is funded by a dedicated harvest tax on forest products producers.

A catalog of equipment suitable to treat landscape areas before prescribed burns. It includes a variety of small and large pieces of equipment appropriate for many different management objectives and budgets.
 
 
Western Forest Health and Biomass Energy Potential:
A report documenting forest conditions in the West, the risk of wildfire and the role of a potential biomass energy market in forest restoration projects.
 
Woody biomass users' experiences offer insights for government efforts aimed at promoting its use. This March 2006 Government Accountability Office report cites challenges faced by those seeking to utilize woody biomass and offers insights to promote its use.
 
Workshop on Forest and Rangeland Health Collaboration 
The Western Governors' Association has released a report summarizing the results of a workshop on Forest and Rangeland Health Collaboration held in May 2005.
