Rails and Tales

Students taking a break during the Rails and Tales program.
Students learn the significance of the railroads' arrival, the impact of prospecting and the evolution of Grand tourism through hands-on activities and storytelling.
During this two-and-a-half-hour human history program, students walk approximately one-half mile along the canyon's rim through the historic district at Grand Canyon Village. The program explores the changing ways in which people have valued the canyon over time. Charades, a scavenger hunt, a visit to the Kolb Studios, a short walk down Bright Angel Trail and a quiet art and inspiration activity make learning Grand Canyon human history fun. This program is suitable for those traveling on the Grand Canyon Railway.
All but the Kolb Studio and Bright Angel Trail are wheelchair accessible.
