FAQ
IndexCat -- Materials Indexed

Question: What are the rules for material indexed in IndexCat?
Answer:

IndexCat is the content of the printed Index-Catalogue of the Library of the Surgeon-General's Office, 1870-1961. This catalog reflects materials owned by the Library of the Surgeon-General's Office, U.S. Army, and its successors. It is not a bibliography of all published works in medicine and related sciences.
Index Medicus, an index developed for timely publication to current journal articles, selected items from the Index-Catalogue that met its standards for professional literature and audience.
