Forest Service Invites Public to Plan Revision Workshops

--The Forest Service invites the public to help plan the future of National Forest System lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
The agency will host two public workshops--September 29 on the North Shore and September 30 on the South Shore--to kick
off the latest round of public input on the forest plan for the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee to Meet at US Forest Service, South Lake Tahoe

--The Lake Tahoe Basin Federal Advisory Committee (LTFAC) is scheduled to meet from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., September 22,
2008 at US Forest Service, Emerald Bay Room, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA. LTFAC will address issues related
to federal activities at Lake Tahoe
Generation Green of Lake Tahoe
The Generation Green of Lake Tahoe program is designed to connect high-school age students with the forest through
meaningful employment
Public Comment Sought on Aspen Restoration Plan
South Lake Tahoe, CA.
--The U.S. Forest Service is seeking public comment on a proposal to restore aspen
stands in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Aspen Community Restoration Project would restore approximately 1,115 acres of aspen
stands over the next ten years. Aspen stands provide important habitat for many plant and animal species, yet they comprise
only two percent of the landscape on the LTBMU
Forest Service Acquisition of Incline Lake Proceeding

--The federal acquisition of the 754-acre Incline Lake property took a major step forward this week with actions that are
expected to lead to full public use and enjoyment of the property within a year
Urban Lot Management Program
The Forest Service initiated the Urban Lot Management Program in 1991 to
address management issues on urban intermix parcels. The Lake Tahoe Basin
Management Unit manages these lands with an emphasis on protecting water

Forests with a Future Campaign
The US Forest Service is initiating the Forests with a Future
campaign in California and parts of Nevada to protect Sierra Nevada old-growth forests, wildlife and communities against catastrophic
wildfires. This campaign is a new proactive approach aimed at restoring natural conditions to our forests and building public understanding
