Interpretive Ranger Programs

"Glimpses of the Past." Join a ranger for a walk on a paved trail and see the remains of an ancestral Puebloan village at the Tusayan Museum, 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Desert View.

During your visit this year, the National Park Service  encourages you to participate in the programs listed below. All programs are free of charge.

All outdoor programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather or when lightning danger is present.

Note: Children must be accompanied by an adult on all programs.

Daily Life at Tusayan Pueblo
A Visit to Tusayan Ruin and Museum provides a glimpse of Pueblo Indian life some 800 years ago. In this Ranger Minute, Ranger Brian Gatlin provides an introduction to these ancient people who called Grand Canyon "home." How was their life similar to ours today? 

Tusayan Ruin is located three miles west of Desert View and is open daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Yavapai Observation Station  

Did You Know?
Grand Canyon's Yavapai Observation Station (1928) located one mile (1.6 km) east of Market Plaza, features exceptional canyon views. New geology exhibits allow park visitors to see and understand the complicated geologic story in ways that all can understand. Exhibits and bookstore open daily.
