There are also private programs that will hire folks with experience 
without a specialty cert or deg.  It just takes looking around.  Dave's ESL 
Cafe has a job listing...

Undergraduate English degrees qualify us in our adult ESOL program in our
public school system night classes. It's all part-time. I have a CELTA
certificate which gave me teaching training and methodology since I had
never taught. I love this job!
