NASA kicks off the newly established NASA Explorer Schools partnership with Goddard School of Science and Technology, Worcester, Mass., with presentations by a NASA astronaut and a scientist. NASA astronaut, Timothy J. Creamer and Dolly Perkins, deputy director-technical of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., will speak with students about careers in aeronautics and space exploration.
Creamer currently works in the Robotics Branch of JSC, dealing with the International Partners on all computer aspects of Robotics operations, as well as all of the Command and Control software and user interfaces. Additionally, he is the real-time support lead for Expedition-12 for all things involving the Robotics operations on the International Space Station.
Perkins shares with the Director and Deputy Director of NASA GSFC responsibility for executive leadership and overall direction and management of the Center and its assigned programs and projects. She is also responsible for providing overall leadership for planning of future programs and for implementation of a GSFC technology program that is aligned with NASA's strategic goals.
The NASA Explorer Schools Program provides schools with classroom resources and innovative technology based on NASA's missions and discoveries. During the three-year partnership, NASA helps schools address science, technology, engineering and mathematics needs. Goddard School of Science and Technology was selected as a NASA Explorer School beginning in academic year 2005-2006.
