Several types of brochures, maps, Recreational Opportunity Guides (ROGs), and other materials are provided to the public by the US Forest Service in areas such as recreation, sightseeing, wilderness, wildlife, vegetation, fire and more. Forest Visitor MapsThese maps are available to purchase from the National Forest Store and many retail outlets. The Forest Visitor Maps are also available for online viewing and printing. Specialty MapsMany specialty maps are available from the National Forest Store covering specific trails, Wilderness Areas and other special areas. National Forest AtlasesFull color atlases, containing 8 ½ x 11 inch topographic quadrangle maps at 1 inch to the mile scale, are available for many of the forests in California through the National Forest Store. Brochures and Local MapsMany brochures and maps are available from individual forests covering local recreation opportunities. Topographic Quadrangle MapsTopographic quadrangle maps are produced cooperatively by the Forest Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. These maps are 22 x 27 inches, provide the greatest level of detail and cover only small portions of each forest. The maps are available over-the-counter at the Regional Office in Vallejo and from the U.S. Geological Survey. Roadless Area Conservation MapsThese maps show categories of inventoried roadless areas in each National Forest in the United States. Related InformationThe U.S. Geological Survey also sells many other map products covering the National Forests and has an interactive map service, "The National Map".
