Welcome

The Southern California Consortium (SCC) is an environmental education, outreach and recruitment, kindergarten thru employment program.  The focus is to educate underserved urban communities on the importance of natural resources.  Currently the program has established relationships in Hispanic and African-American communities in urban areas, with Native-American and Asian programs being established in the near future.

The three major program areas are: Community, Education & Employment

Our Background

[Photograph]: Smokey and helpers. In an effort to ensure that the Pacific Southwest Region continues to fulfill its mission of achieving quality land management while being inclusive of all communities in meeting the needs of our diverse public, the Region expanded the current Central California Consortium in 2006 forming the, Region 5,California Consortium program. The new offices are strategically located in Northern and Southern California to compliment existing services in Central California.

The Southern California Consortium is attached to the Angeles National Forest in Arcadia and serves the communities adjacent to the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, and San Bernardino National Forests.

Southern California Consortium Mission Areas:

  • Establish and strengthen relationships in Hispanic and other diverse communities
  • Raise awareness of importance of natural resources and opportunities available on public lands in underserved communities
  • Encourage enrollment in higher education and natural resource programs
