ATSDR is collaborating with many non government organizations to seek new partnerships and form a closer association between the child health specialties and the environmental professions. ATSDR hopes that these partnerships will stimulate an exchange of ideas and interests across professional disciplines. For example, child health advocates can learn more about environmental science and environmental scientists can learn more about child health. ATSDR invites its partner organizations and other interested groups to submit technical reports, case studies, and other experiences, and suggest additional areas of emphasis. Secretary Tommy G. Thompson you are exiting the site co-chairs the Task Force on Environmental Health and Safety Risks to Children, you are exiting the site comprised of representatives from all federal agencies and departments involved with children's environmental health and safety. The Task Force appointed workgroups to address four priority areas: (1) asthma, (2) unintentional injuries, (3) cancer, and (4) developmental disorders (including birth defects, neurobehavioral disorders, and endocrine disruption).

EPA's child health activities are coordinated by the Office of the Administrator, Office of Children's Health Protection, directed by E. Ramona Trovato. In addition, ATSDR conducts many of its child health activities near Superfund sites in cooperation with EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, under a memorandum of understanding signed April 21, 1997.
