Recreational Activities - Fishing
Welcome to the Ashley National Forest recreational
fishing website. On the Ashley, we offer the angler a variety of fishing opportunities
from flyfishing head water streams for native Colorado River Cutthroat Trout
to trolling the deep waters of Flaming
Gorge Reservoir for Lake Trout and Kokanee. As you use our site we hope
you find useful information to guide you on your fishing exploits. Good
luck!
Whirling Disease: Whirling Disease has been
documented at East and West Greens Lakes (Red Canyon Lodge) and most recently
in Carter Creek immediately below Brownie Lake. We plan to meet and discuss
a containment plan and what precautions need to be set in place to protect
our CRCT brood stock populations at Sheep Creek Lake. Visit the Whirling
Disease Foundation website to
learn more about the disease and how you can help prevent it from spreading.
Note: A Recreation Use Pass is necessary for recreational use of the Flaming
Gorge National Recreation Area. This pass permits use by all passengers in
a single, private non-commercial vehicle. We do accept the Golden Age, Access
and Eagle Passports, and the hologram stamped National Park Pass in lieu of
our Use Pass. Any of these passes must be visible through your windshield.
View our list of area merchants that
sell the Recreation Use Pass.
