Lois C.: Painting a Future for Herself and Others with Disabilities
Lois C., a celebrated artist and entrepreneur living in DeKalb, Georgia, benefited from the assistance of an ODEP-funded WorkFORCE Action Grant for the successful transition of individuals from institutions to community living and employment. Lois lived for many years in state-run institutions for people with disabilities. She used her grant to start a business marketing her artwork – pastels and acrylics. Today, Lois’ talent is showcased in galleries on postcards and calendars. This success has motivated her to make art and advocacy her life’s work.
