Image of Karen Stang, Operation IMPACT Program Manager, Northrop Grumman CorporationOn October 24, Northrop Grumman Corp., headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif., was honored with one of six of the Secretary of Labor’s 2007 New Freedom Initiative Awards for its Operation IMPACT program. Karen Stang, Operation IMPACT Program Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Operation IMPACT has contacted more than 400 injured service members. A project team identifies career opportunities both within Northrop Grumman and elsewhere. Components include identifying accommodations and training needs, as well as mentoring new hires. While the vast majority of service members contacted are not yet ready to re-enter the workforce, Operation IMPACT maintains ongoing communication until they are ready to do so. The program’s motto is: “Have jobs waiting for soldiers, not soldiers waiting for jobs.”
