Mission & Goal Statement:

Educate and raise awareness of safety issues in North Carolina relating to driver distractions, aggressive drivers, impaired drivers, driver alertness, older drivers, seat belt usage, child safety seat usage, pedestrian safety and railroad crossing safety by conducting Public Awareness Presentations.


Grades K-3
Presentation Topics

Seat Belt Usage - Vince and Larry, the Crash Test Dummies, perform a skit on seat belts. Program Leaders lead a discussion on the importance of wearing a seat belt.

Driver Distractions - Vince and Larry perform a skit demonstrating some typical driver distractions. Program leaders talk about not becoming a distraction to driver.

Road Signs - Vince and Larry show the audience a series of typical road signs. Program Leaders discuss what each sign is and what it means.

The Speed Limit Game - Program Leaders ask for five volunteers to participate. Each child is shown a speed limit sign and asked to indicate that speed on our giant speedometer.

Presentation Topics

If It Happened To Them, It Could Happen To You… - A multi-media presentation concentrating on alcohol, speeding, and seat belt usage. A discussion and question and answer session will be held after the presentation.

Fatal Vision® - A program that incorporates specially designed goggles that simulate the visual impairment caused by alcohol. Volunteers are convinced that such impairment makes activities with known risks, such as driving a vehicle, very dangerous.

Our PromiseThe Our Promise Logo - An agreement between a teen and his/her family to clearly define the behavior expected and the responsibility shared by both in regard to driver safety and to help keep the lines of communication open, so that the teen feels he/she can call on his/her family under any circumstance.

The Crash Test Dummies, Vince and Larry, say, 'Want to keep your face from breaking out?  Wear your safety belt.'
