Approved Supervisors

Currently our Board does not have a list of approved supervisors. Both the Oregon Counseling Association (www.or-counseling.org ) and the Oregon Mental Health Counselors Association (www.ormhca.org ) provide a list of supervisors. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that he/she chooses a supervisor that meets the Board's criteria. We review the supervisor's credentials when we receive an application from a registered intern or direct method applicant.

Supervisor Update 10-15-07

Questions have been raised regarding the amount of professional experience a mental health professional must have to serve as a supervisor. To clear up any confusion, the Board addressed this issue during its August meeting. In particular, the Board concluded that OAR 833-020-0050(4)(b) requires that the supervisor must have completed 3 years of post-graduate supervised clinical experience as a licensed mental health professional. Although this interpretation will not affect any prior approved supervising applicants, all future applicants must satisfy this requirement.
