LMFT CONTENT AREAS

  • Social and cultural foundations in marital and family therapy
 
WHAT KIND OF HOURS?
  • Attending college or university courses -- 15 clock hours per semester credit and 10 clock hours per quarter credit
  • Seminars, workshops, conferences and/or trainings -- live or through distance learning.  Distance learning training must be offered or approved by a provider acceptable to the Board, e.g., NBCC.
  • Home study from approved providers must be offered by or approved by an accepted provider, e.g., NBCC
  • A maximum of 20 CEUs for a 2 year period for publication activities -- 5 per article; 5 per chapter, 20 for book authorship, 5 per 30 minutes of video production related to counseling; 5 for reviewing book proposal; 5 for each year of service on an editorial board of counseling journal.

  • Receiving supervision
  • Leadership in the profession
  • Serving as an officer of a state or national counseling organization
  • Serving as a member of a counseling/therapy licensing board
  • Chairing national conference or convention
