Nursing Workforce Diversity Program

The Nursing Workforce Diversity Program (NWDP) is a principal HRSA Division of Nursing mechanism for improving the racial and ethnic diversity of the basic nursing workforce, which is essential to meeting the increasing needs of the population for culturally sensitive and appropriate health care.  Grants and contracts are awarded under Section 821 of Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities under- represented among registered nurses).
