These are Head Start teachers who need to get an Associates degree in Education in order to keep their jobs. Preparing for this course, I put ESL and writing into an ERIC search and came up with 7 articles as results. With the hundreds of thousands of ERIC documents, is there that much of a dearth of research on writing in ESL?
