STAFF REQUIREMENTS - SECY-01-0138 - REMOVAL OF CABOT CORPORATION'S
REVERE SITE FROM THE SITE DECOMMISSIONING MANAGEMENT PLAN |
This is to advise you that the Commission has not objected to the staff's
plan to release the Cabot Corporation's Revere site for unrestricted use
and remove the site from the Site Decommissioning Management Plan. The
draft letters should be changed as noted below.
- In the letter to EPA, page 1, last paragraph, add a new sentence in
line 2 as the 2nd sentence as follows: "NRC has
also coordinated with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
(PADEP) including conducting joint site visits and inspections." In
line 4, add two new sentences after the period as follows:
"A draft environmental assessment, along with a copy of the draft safety
evaluation report were also provided to PADEP in March 2001, for its
review and comment. PADEP agrees with NRC's determination." Revise lines
4 and 5 to read ' ... on a
staff
review of these the dose assessments,
both NRC and PADEP have
concludeds that the Revere site
meets NRC's regulatory requirements for is
suitable for release for unrestricted ....'
- In the letter to EPA, add the following cc: Mr. David
J. Allard, PADEP and Mr. Timothy Knapp, Cabot.
- In the letter to PADEP, add the following to the cc: Mr.
Stephen D. Luftig, (EPA).
