Subject: SECURITY EVENT

Discussion:

At approximately 0250, January 22, 1999, a female arrived at the Fort St.
Vrain facility seeking protection from a male assailant. The guard
contacted the Weld County Sheriff Department via 911. A representative
from the County Sherrif Department responded and placed the female into
protective custody.

The assailant was never seen at the security facility by the guards. The
guard said the female appeared to have been drinking and had visible
indications of an assault (scratches, bruises).

Regional Action:

DNMS/FCDB contacted the DOE Idaho Program Manager for the Ft. St. Vrain
ISFSI and discussed the incident. The Program Manager said the County
Sheriff's Department had taken the female into protective custody, had
impounded her car, but had not taken the alleged assailant into custody
as of 0900 this morning. The Program Manager was requested to fax copies
of occurrence report/security reports to RIV for review.
