REGION III MORNING REPORT PAGE 2 MARCH 6, 2000

Licensee/Facility: Notification:

Wisconsin Electric Power Co. MR Number: 3-00-0013
Point Beach 1 Date: 03/06/00
Two Rivers,Wisconsin
Dockets: 50-266
PWR/W-2-LP

Subject: COMPLETION OF UNIT 1 FORCED MAINTENANCE OUTGAGE

Discussion:

Point Beach Unit 1 was taken critical at approximately 11:30 a.m. on
March 4, 2000. The unit had been shut down since February 20, 2000.
During the shutdown, the licensee investigated indications of a loose
part in the primary system inlet side of the "A" steam generator. No
loose parts were found, and there was no indication of any damage to the
steam generator. The licensee completed a technical evaluation which
concluded that there were no safety concerns with restarting the unit.
The licensee also repaired a mechanical joint leak on a non-isolatable
primary system boundary check valve during the outage.

Regional Action:

The resident inspectors observed startup activities. No significant
problems were identified.
