Subject: DECOMMISSIONING WORK ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED

Discussion:

As a result of NRC inspection activites and licensee corrective action
reports generated this week related to the process control program for
solid waste management, the licensee has suspended all decommissioning
work activities except for required surveillances. Work control packages
for radioactive waste handling and other primary site program areas
(spent fuel pool safety, radiation protection program) are under review
today by the licensee. Preliminary results of the review are expected to
be discussed tomorrow among CY and NRC staff to determine the impact on
overall site decommissioning operations.

Regional Action:

Conference call will be held on May 24, 2001, between DNMS and CY
management to determine current status and the safety significance of the
issues identified in the radioactive waste program.
