Discussion:
At 1:34 a.m. (CST) on November 7, 2003, the licensee inserted a manual reactor shutdown while at 45 percent power due to high reactor coolant conductivity. All systems responded as anticipated with the exception of the turbine generator which did not trip on reverse power as expected. Control room operators manually tripped the turbine generator. The turbine generator did not motor as a result of this event.
The licensee is investigating the cause of the high conductivity.
The residents inspectors are monitoring the activities.
Region III (Lisle, IL) was informed of this shutdown by the Senior Resident Inspector at 2:35a.m. (CST) on November 7, 2003.
