Discussion:
This information is current as of 9:00 am (EST) on March 19, 2004. The plant is currently in Mode 3 at 300OF and 420 psig. The plant entered Mode 3 at 5:52 pm March 17 and expects to enter Mode 4 by the afternoon of March 19. The shutdown and cooldown is being performed to establish plant conditions necessary to repair/replace the main feedwater line block isolation valve (FW-780) for steam generator 1-1, as well as resolving several additional equipment issues.
Ongoing resident inspector coverage, and enhanced inspection oversight will continue to be utilized to evaluate operational evolutions. Given the expected duration of the shutdown to address equipment problems, inspection oversight will be reduced to two-shift coverage during maintenance activities. Around-the-clock oversight will be reestablished, once the licensee is prepared to begin restart activities, and continue during all operational evolutions until full power routine operation is achieved.
