Astrobiology: Life in the Universe

Astrobiology Science and Technology for Exploring Planets (ASTEP)

Intro
  1. Icy Worlds Focus Group

    Chairs: TBD

The goal of the Icy Worlds Focus Group is to share relevant astrobiology research results, act as a forum for programmatic input into NASA missions, and to provide a venue for fostering new and interdisciplinary collaborative work. The Icy Worlds Focus Group was formed out of the pre-existing NAI Europa Focus Group and the NAI Titan Focus Group – as well as others.

    Activities

The first meeting/workshop of the newly-scoped Icy Worlds Focus Group was held in September 2007, with a goal to assess the current outer planet “Flagship mission” studies, and to provide input back to the study groups themselves. The 45 participants provided written assessments and participated in discussions on each of the four candidate mission targets: Europa, Titan, Enceladus, and the Jupiter System.
