An acoustic neuroma, also called a vestibular schwannoma, is a slow-growing, benign tumor that develops on the balance portion of the eighth cranial nerve. Early symptoms include hearing loss, balance problems, and tinnitus. The Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA) is a patient-focused organization that provides information and support to those affected by acoustic neuroma. Holds a national symposium; contact ANA for date and location. ANA also publishes a quarterly newsletter and other consumer information,
organizes local support groups, promotes research, and maintains an interactive Web site.
