   The National CAHPS Benchmarking Database

Hospital Survey (H-CAHPS) Component

In 2005, the National CAHPS Benchmarking Database (CAHPS Database) began working with hospitals on a voluntary basis to develop an H-CAHPS data set that can support benchmarking and research.

Important Note: The CAHPS Database data collection effort is not related to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ national implementation of the CAHPS Hospital Survey. Hospitals that participate in the national implementation of the CAHPS Hospital Survey for public reporting must submit data to CMS through QualityNet Exchange. For information about national implementation, go to www.hcahpsonline.org.
