FREE ATV Safety Training is subsidized by most manufacturers for your entire family when you purchase a new ATV. This subsidy never expires!! The OHMVR Division subsidizes FREE ATV Safety Training for all kids under the age of 18 that do not have access to a manufacturer subsidy. Enroll online for ATV Safety Training by going to the ATV Safety Institute website.

All vehicles operated off-highway on Public Lands in California are required to be street-licensed or registered as an off-highway vehicle (OHV).  If you are visiting California from another state and your vehicle does not have current registration from your home state, you must purchase a California Nonresident OHV Use Permit before you go off-roading.  The 2009 Nonresident OHV Permits are now available for purchase. To locate a vendor, please download the Nonresident Permit Vendor List PDF listed below.

In order for California residents to operate an off-highway vehicle on public lands in California, the vehicle must have either a Green Sticker or a Red Sticker that has been issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
